Internships at The Institute of Texan Cultures

The Institute of Texan Cultures provides experiential learning opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students based on hands-on research that will lead to significant student contributions made to the university, the museum, and the community at large.

Internships enrich the educational experience for students, serve society through expanded research, serve the public through community engagement, and serve UTSA by educating and empowering students.

 To Apply:

Contact the internship coordinator at to determine current intern position openings and eligibility to apply. Internship applicants are required to submit all of the following documents:

  • A letter of application that explains how your studies, work, or volunteer experience qualify you for this project
  • A CV or resume
  • Transcript
  • A letter of support from a faculty member who will oversee your internship in your home department

Please reference the internship description for additional information.

Application Deadlines:

All documents must be submitted by the application deadline for the respective semester in order to be considered for placement in an ITC internship.

  • Fall: July 15
  • Spring: November 15
  • Summer: April 15


UTSA graduate students, majoring in Anthropology or Art History, and accepted for an internship at the Institute of Texan Cultures are encouraged to apply for the Alameda/UTSA Endowed Internship in Museum Studies.

Schoonover Farm Blog

This is the blog for our little farm in Skagit county. Here we raise Shetland sheep, Nigerian Dwarf goats, and Satin Angora rabbits. In addition we have donkeys, llamas, cattle, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, peafowl and pheasants. The blog describes the weekly activities here.
